Part of the Fort Hays State University, the Sternberg Museum features interactive natural science exhibitions, many traveling and temporary exhibitions, and an acclaimed Discovery Room. The Museum focuses on 330 million years of history of life on Earth, from the Kansas sea to the wild West, through formative years of North American paleontology and the concept of biological evolution, to the development of an important research and exhibit facility at Fort Hays State University. Visitors learn about the early days of fossil collecting in the west, the role the Sternberg family played in developing the science of paleontology, as well as information on a wide range of prehistoric animals. There are numerous worksheets available for download from the website, as well as teacher resources and information on programming and exhibits.
